In Amolatar, raising a child is never an individual effort—it is a shared commitment. At Global Leaders Primary School (GLP), many students have lost one or both parents, yet they are not alone. Aunts, uncles, grandparents, and neighbors step forward as guardians, ensuring these children have a place to call home.

On February 26, 2025, GLP held a meeting with 40 guardians of orphaned students, reinforcing the school’s commitment to their education. It was more than just a check-in—it was a testament to the power of community-driven support.

Breaking Barriers to Education

When GLP first admitted students under this scholarship program for orphaned children, many struggled academically. But with structured support, dedicated teachers, and a nurturing school environment, they have made remarkable progress. Their grades have improved, their confidence has grown, and their discipline has transformed.

However, the meeting also highlighted an ongoing challenge: many guardians struggle to provide the scholastic materials required for their children to fully participate in school. In some cases, this has led to students dropping out.

In response, guardians collectively agreed to take an active role in ensuring students have the materials they need, preventing future dropouts. Their gratitude for this program was overwhelming, and many shared how life-changing this opportunity has been for their children.

The Need for Growth

Currently, 60 orphaned students are receiving support at GLP, with more expected to return. Yet, as the meeting made clear, the need is far greater than what the program can currently provide.

  1. 🗣️ Guardians urged the school to expand the program to include more children in need.

  2. 🏫 They also requested support beyond primary school, advocating for a pathway into secondary education for students who excel in their exams.

  3. 🤝 Finally, they asked for regular meetings with school administrators to stay involved and help prevent dropouts.

A Community That Stands Together

This program isn’t just about education—it’s about ensuring every child has a chance to thrive, regardless of their circumstances. It is a partnership between families, schools, and the larger community, proving that when we invest in children, we invest in a stronger future for everyone.

At GLP, no child walks alone. And thanks to the dedication of their guardians, teachers, and this grassroots community, every student has a chance to dream, learn, and rise.
