Reducing teen pregnancy & drop out rates through Life Skills Training

Developed in partnership with education leaders in the community, this program contains hundreds of research-based lessons that are proven to reduce absenteeism and increase student engagement. Since its launch in June, our Skills for Life program has impacted 200 students across six schools in Amolatar District and has already shown promising results with a significant reduction in absence rates. By providing students with the tools they need to succeed and make informed decisions about their futures, we are confident that Skills for Life will help reduce the rates of teenage pregnancy and dropouts in rural Uganda.
Menstural Health & Girls Empowerment
Ending period poverty & breaking taboos in rural Uganda
Since 2017, we have been partnering with the Uganda-based company, AfriPads, to distribute thousands of “School Girl Kits” to girls across Amolatar District. These kits include two reusable sanitary pads, underwear and a menstural health/hygiene booklet. Alongside our distributions, we host Girls Empowerment Workshops where students from our Sister Schools network can access mentorship from female leaders from their own communities and break the stigma around mensturation. Our goal of this program is to end period povery in this community, where nearly 30% of girls will miss school due to their period every month.
