Empowering Students to Create Real-World Change

Through our Schools for Schools program, American students work alongside students at a “Sister School” rural Uganda to advance access to education and create lasting change.

Start a club, or simply launch a fundraiser for your Sister School and help Ignite Skills for Life courses, fund classroom makeovers, and more. You’ll learn about sustainable, ethical development from local leaders, engage with students around the world and become a global citizen scripting real-world change.

  • Acii Primary School

    Acii Primary has over 1,000 students with limited classrooms. Their teachers are passionate and dedicated.

  • Agikdak Secondary School

    Agikdak is an incredible community-founded high school in need of support to finish the roof of their main school building.

  • Global Leaders Primary School

    Our own school, Global Leaders Primary, has over 500 students and is in dire need of a school textbook library.

  • Arwot Primary School

    Arwot Primary is one of the kindest, and most loving school communities we’ve met! They are currently looking for a Sister School in the USA or UK

  • Namasale Technical School

    Namasale Tech is one of the only trade schools in the region. They are currently looking for a Sister School in the USA or UK

  • Namasale SEED Secondary

    Namasale SEED was one of our first partner schools! They are the leading high school in our region and are partnered with ODA in Sarasota, Florida!

Meet Our USA Sister Schools!

  • Lakewood High School - CO

    Lakewood High School has raised over $20,000 for their sister school since 2015! They have helped donate a roof, new desks for students, AfriPads for girls and funded Skills for Life Classes!

  • Herbert Hoover High School - CA

    As a new student-led organization this year, has made significant strides in hosting successful fundraisers and establishing valuable community partnerships. Notably, they are actively engaged in advocating for their sister school, Global Leaders Primary.

  • Dakota Ridge High School - CO

    Dakota Ridge’s monthly “challenges” have contributed to a new classroom build at their sister school, as well as helped to fuel Skills for Life classes!

  • The Out-of-Door Academy - FL

    At each ODA sports event, you’ll find a group of dedicated Global Citizens selling snacks in support of their sister school, who they recently helped build a new computer lab!

  • Rancho Bernardo High School - CA

    Far Away Friends Club at Rancho Bernardo High School has helped raise funds to provide AfriPads ktis to girls at their sister school, as well as contributed toward Skills for Life classes!

  • Centennial High School - TX

    New to our program is Centennial High School in Frisco, Texas! We cant wait to see what impact they make for their sister school, Arwot Primary, in rural northern Uganda!

About the program:

Bringing Far Away Friends to your school can provide a wealth of benefits for both students and teachers. FAF offers an opportunity for students to expand their worldview, connect with other people and get involved in projects that make a real impact on the lives of students in other communities. Our programs provide a variety of learning opportunities across different disciplines, such as leadership, international studies, public speaking, history, and social entrepreneurship. For teachers, FAF provides opportunities to engage your students emotionally through storytelling and hands-on experiences, enhance your existing curriculum, and make a real impact in students' lives. We also offer potential for teacher exchanges and other forms of collaboration between schools in the USA and Uganda!

    After FAF (visited), several faculty felt that the Far Away Friends story had relevance beyond an inspirational assembly. We felt their work represented so much of our curriculum in living form, the shape of a small team of visionaries not much older than our students.
