Our Schools in Action

Let’s take a moment to spotlight all your amazing club efforts!

Remember to use your fundraising pages!

Centennial High School's Far Away Friends chapter is actively taking steps to make a positive impact, exemplified by their initiative to set up fundraising pages. This demonstrates their commitment to supporting their sister school and fostering global connections through practical efforts. By embracing fundraising, they showcase the power of collective action and the potential for positive change that can arise from their dedicated advocacy.

Moreover, their engagement with the Collines' TedTalk reflects a proactive approach to education and awareness. By immersing themselves in insightful discussions, the Far Away Friends at Centennial High School are not only broadening their own perspectives but also equipping themselves with knowledge to advocate effectively for their cause. This commitment to self-education aligns with the ethos of Global Leadership Trainings, highlighting the transformative impact that informed and empowered individuals can have on building meaningful relationships and bridging gaps.

Centennial High School stands as a commendable example of how a combination of action, advocacy, and education can pave the way for meaningful connections and positive change. Their dedication to using their voices and leveraging the knowledge gained from Global Leadership Trainings reflects the essence of proactive global citizenship within the Far Away Friends program.

“We had so much fun doing this and we are now ready to fundraise!” - Nora, CHS Club President

Far Away Friends at Centennial High School is currently working on a heartfelt video dedicated to their sister school in Uganda, offering a sneak peek into this meaningful project. The video captures the essence of the connection between the two schools, providing a glimpse into the shared experiences, cultural exchange, and the bond that transcends geographical boundaries. This sneak peek hints at the thoughtful and impactful content that will be showcased in the final video.

Plan fun events with your club members and sale merch at a school event!

At Hoover High School, the Far Away Friends (FAF) chapter is organizing impactful sales events with a focus on creativity and community collaboration. They've recently partnered with a local jewelry retailer, Alaka Design, which generously contributed unique pieces for sale at the school's Winter Wonderland event. This partnership not only supports fundraising efforts but also strengthens ties with local businesses, contributing to a vibrant and interconnected community.

Additionally, Hoover High School's FAF chapter is championing sustainability and community support by featuring products crafted by alumni from Global Leaders Primary School. These locally sourced bags, scrunchies, and jewelry not only broaden the range of available merchandise but also showcase the chapter's commitment to empowering and highlighting talents within their educational community. Beyond commerce, the FAF chapter is fostering an inclusive environment, emphasizing friendships that transcend geographical boundaries, including connections with Uganda. Their initiatives reflect a holistic approach to community engagement, promoting both local and global connectivity.

Engage in events to put Far Away Friends on the Map!

We were so moved and inspired by the passion of the ODA Far Away Friends Club, who invited us to come speak to their ENTIRE SCHOOL today about our work to improve education in rural Uganda!

The club even surprised us with a $5,000 check for their Sister School’s computer lab project. The best part? They raised it all by volunteering at their school concession stand at games and school events.

We are SO proud of you, ODA Thunder 🌍 Thank you for being Global Citizens!

BUILD A SCHOOL IN A WEEK!

During Lakewood High School's ROAR Week, students and staff joined forces in a week-long celebration of unity, compassion, and philanthropy. The week was marked by diverse activities, including spirited fundraisers, themed dress-up days, and engaging events. Notably, students passionately participated in various fundraising initiatives, showcasing their creativity and enthusiasm. The culmination of ROAR Week featured a closing ceremony where the total funds raised were revealed, underscoring the collective impact of the community's efforts in supporting meaningful causes. We are building a preschool with $21,000 raised in this week alone. Lakewood's ROAR Week stands as a testament to the school's commitment to fostering a culture of giving, teamwork, and positive change.

If you find any of these initiatives intriguing and would like to get involved, we invite you to reach out to us. Our team is here to assist and guide you in participating in these impactful endeavors. Your interest and engagement can make a significant difference. Feel free to contact us, and together, we can create positive change.
