As part of our Raise to Reopen campaign, our high school club partners from across the United States are competing to raise the most “Dollars for Desks”! The school who funds the most desks by GivingTuesday will have a commemorative flag raised at Global Leaders Primary School in their honor.
What We’re Funding:
Sanitation & Hygiene
Socially distanced desks & new dorm beds
Hand washing stations throughout campus
Installing new, drainable pit-latrine toilets for students
School Nurse & Mini Clinic
Hiring a school nurse for 1 year costs about $3,000
Outfitting a school clinic & isolation room to ensure safety of other students
Bat-proofing & Building Renovations
Bat guano is highly toxic to our lungs. Funds raised will help completely bat proof all buildings on campus
Renovate floors & repaint building for improved sanitation
Going back has never been more important.
According to UNICEF Uganda, “the safe reopening of schools should be given the same priority and consideration as the safe reopening of the economy.”
Global Leaders Primary School is more than just a learning environment, but a safe space which provides our students with nutrition, health, and hygiene services, along with mental health and psychosocial support, while reducing incidents of violence against children, gender-based violence, and unintended pregnancy.
The longer children are out of school (particularly in rural areas) the less likely they are to return. You can help ensure that we bring all students back healthy & safe.
