Our Vision

We envision a future where every child, in every school, in every community across the world has access to the tools, resources and opportunities to build their dreams and break cycles of generational poverty forever.

Our Model

Education, School Support & Community Development

There are no “one size fits all” solutions to solving big societal issues like generational poverty. Building schools alone, for example, doesn’t change the fact that Teachers aren’t being paid or trained. Our approach focuses on a 3-pronged model through which each focus area positively impacts the lives of children in the communities we serve.

The Whole Child Approach

We believe that the best solutions to breaking cycles of poverty begin with a focus on kids. Our model is rooted in the “Whole Child” approach through which our programs work to ensure that every child, in every school, in every community we partner with is healthy, safe, engaged, supported and challenged. This model emphasizes holistic development of both community and school resources that have the power to transform children’s lives.

Our Commitment to Local Leadership & Do No Harm Development

At Far Away Friends, we strive to continually improve our messaging, programming and activities to protect the dignity of our beneficiaries & partners in Uganda and around the world.  We aim to be part of the movement to break down the White Savior Industrial Complex and uplift the voices of local leaders who are at the forefront of each and every project we invest in. We are proud to work in partnership with local leaders, builders, engineers, teachers and other experts in development who are born and raised in the communities we serve. Photos on this website are used with the permission of parents of our students, community leaders, partner schools & other community members with the aim of showing the beauty and joy in the places we are lucky enough to work alongside.
